At the writing of this post, we’re here at home basking in the peace of the Sabbath and hoping you are doing the same. It’s such a beautiful “gift” that God has given us. Exodus 20: 8-11 tells us to:
“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt though labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work…the LORD…rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
What a lovely thing that the Lord of heaven and earth in His infinite wisdom put in place the beautiful gift of a day of rest! We have to stop the hurry, anxiety and stress and strain of trying to make a living; stop the hustle and bustle of household chores; stop the watching of television shows and just BE; be still and remember that God created this world and all that is in it. It’s a time to just be with God and your family. Look into the Word of God and hear what He has to say; look into the eyes of your spouse and children and really find out what is really happening in their lives. Listen to that still small voice.
If you’ve been working seven days a week without a break for God and family, we assure you that your life will spiral out of control (if it isn’t already)because we were not designed that way. God knew that without giving us this command of guilt free rest, we would become so motivated to get wealth and achieve that we would never take a break and He would never get to spend quality time with us. Our families would suffer because of a lack of quality time spent with them. Remember God is a God of relationships. It’s time to stop and worship. It’s time to just be with God and family. Enjoy the gift. Your spirit, health and home will thank you.
