Discover what can make your Christian family successful

The devil can do a very good job of keeping us busy talking about things we’d like to do and see in our families without it ever happening. It’s so very important that a family has a sense of vision and purpose. I’m all for being practical and some ways of creating a visual picture of what you’d like your family to be like are mission statements and visions statements but today I wanted to highlight Family Values. Family Values are those standards that everyone in the family is held accountable to. They should serve as a pilot for the activities of your family members within and outside of your home. You cannot have a successful family or life for that matter if there are no goals or standards to guide you.

This has to be a very conscious and deliberate effort incorporated into your everyday life. It’s not always easy but I promise you it’s so worth it! I think that when you are able to agree on these things and get them down on paper, it makes it real and more likely to be acted upon. We keep our Family Values posted where we can see it every day. Coming up on Family Blocks I’m going to be breaking down these family values down one at a time and seeing how they can actually move off the paper in theory and lived out in practical ways in our homes.

I’d like to share with you our family values that my husband and I came up with, just to give you an idea of what you can do. We don’t want you to think we’re pros at this family thing, we’re learning as we go just like you. We have ten family values but there’s no magic in the number ten. You may find when you begin, you may have too many but I think it gets hard to focus on too many things at the same time; you want it to be comprehensive and cover all the areas that are most important to you.  They’re not necessarily in order of importance but we believe the fist three are the most important on the list; so here we go:

1.       Nurturing Spiritual Growth (had to be number one)

2.       Unconditional Love

3.       Trust and Honesty

4.       Leaving home/parting on a positive note

5.       Cleanliness and Orderliness

6.       Kindness

7.       Balanced Lifestyle

8.       Teamwork and Accountability

9.       Witnessing

10.   Strong Work Ethic

I’m looking forward to sharing with you on each of these in practical and applicable ways over the next few weeks so make sure you’re subscribed for updates. Here’s the first one! 7 very practical ways to nurture spiritual growth in the home

 Love and Blessings
